Lizard Renewables S.p.A. boasts a proven track record in seeking the best energy efficiency solutions for national and international companies. Over the years, Lizard has specialised in the development, design, and implementation of renewable energy systems.
The first project dates back to 2010, when one of the largest photovoltaic plants in Italy, with a capacity of around 4 MWp, was built on the roofs of the Angri (SA) food processing industry, Doria S.p.A. Since then, a continuous series of investments and successes in the wind, biomass, and geothermal sectors has followed.
Today, Lizard is also focusing on BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems), towards which it has already made considerable investments and which will allow for better management of national electricity distribution in the coming years. Lizard is a dynamic company looking to the future, combining environmental protection with new technologies. Each project begins as a unique challenge: finding the most suitable locations, applying the most appropriate technologies, working side by side with public authorities, and convincing users and clients of the increasingly urgent need to embrace this new way of generating energy.
Among the main achievements in Italy, in 2011, Lizard built one of the largest photovoltaic systems in Italy for the food company Doria S.p.A. in the province of Salerno, with a total capacity of around 4 MW. Additionally, in Southern Italy, Lizard has developed and authorised wind energy projects with a total capacity of around 200 MW.
In the biomethane sector, Lizard has designed, authorised, and begun construction of a biomass plant in Ogliastro Cilento (SA), named BF. This plant is capable of producing up to 500 Nm³/h of biomethane, high-quality organic fertiliser, and COâ‚‚, derived from the treatment of livestock waste from some of Italy’s most renowned buffalo farms. Furthermore, the project has been included by the GSE in the ranking of plants participating in the first competitive procedure under the PNRR measure
"Development of Biomethane, according to criteria for promoting the circular economy."
Also noteworthy is the Green Data Center project, Geoveda, the first data centre in Europe powered by geothermal energy. The heat will be used to cool the server rooms and power the servers, significantly reducing the high temperatures these devices reach during data processing, with COâ‚‚ emissions close to zero. This is all done in Larderello, in the municipality of Pomarance (PI), a zone with virtually non-existent seismic risk. The estimated savings in emissions and costs compared to traditional electric energy use are about 50%.
Abroad, Lizard has established lasting collaborations with Croatia and Romania, and is also exploring extra-European markets. Recently, Lizard established its branch in Qatar: Lizard Gulf L.L.C. was founded in Doha with the goal of securing the necessary funding to implement the many initiatives in the Italian and European portfolios of the group. The new office is located on the 14th floor of the famous Al Jazeera Tower. From Qatar, potential partnerships with companies in the well-established international investment world may also emerge.
In the past year, Lizard has also expanded its network of collaborations with prominent energy sector professionals to strengthen its presence in the green sector and establish lasting relationships with accredited experts. Significant collaboration agreements have been signed with:
